Subject: End Lubbock’s Unproven LC-1027 CSST Pipe Listing

Mayor Dan Pope,

I am reaching out on behalf of the CSST Coalition and as a concerned citizen. The CSST Coalition is an organization dedicated towards ensuring that consumers continue to have access to safe and proven corrugated stainless steel tubing (CSST) products. The Coalition helps support the voices of small businesses and customers negatively impacted by unproven CSST products that harm local communities across the country.

In May 2016, Lubbock, Texas ignored independent scientific facts and passed an ordinance requiring all CSST gas piping products used in the City to meet a modified and unproven LC-1027 product listing. This stops small businesses from choosing the best products for their customers, creating a government mandated monopoly.

There is already an internationally recognized standard in place to ensure local communities have a variety of proven product choices for CSST gas pipe available. ANSI LC-1 has been in place all across the country for more than 20 years and there is no reason to move away from something that works effectively.

That is the how the Texas State Legislature and Governor saw it when they recently enacted a law that prohibits cities in Texas from casting aside proven national standards like ANSI LC-1.

You can make a difference, please support our efforts to end this unproven LC-1027 listing that limits free enterprise and product choice.

Thank you,
The CSST Coalition
